This painting was done by David Mweetwa. He was born in the southern province of Zambia in 1995, then moved to the Eastern province in 2006 and grew up surrounded by wildlife in the town of Mfuwe, bordering South Luangwa National Park. David, who is a trained secondary school teacher, is currently working in the tourism industry while training to become a safari guide.
At the center of the canvas, a majestic baobab tree stands tall and proud, its thick trunk adorned with intricate patterns and its branches reaching towards the vibrant sky. Beneath its canopy, a pack of African wild dogs roam freely, their coats adorned with a mosaic of colors that blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. The wild dog, one of Africa’s most endangered carnivores, has been eliminated from most of the countries it once occurred in. Zambia is one of six countries with viable populations of this species, with one of the largest populations found in the Luangwa Valley.
the dimensions of this painting are: 21.5in x 41in
